Readings:
Ezekiel 45-46
Philippians 4
Ezekiel 45-46
These two chapters contain some regulations for the temple once it’s rebuilt. It also reinstates the festivals and feasts of the covenant that had been neglected in the later years of the kingdom.
Philippians 4
In a single sentence we’re told two times that we should rejoice in the Lord. Whenever I read this I have to remind myself that Paul is either in a cell or under house arrest while writing about his personal joy in the Lord, and his exhortation for us to rejoice too. It’s amazing when you add that bit of background here.
But not just rejoicing, Paul also speaks of the peace of God. That we shouldn’t be anxious about anything and just at peace, because God has it under control. Once again, he’s in jail and facing the death penalty while writing this letter.
Paul gives us the secret of his peace and joy while sitting in jail. He says he’s learned to be content with whatever situation presents itself, that he’s been hungry and been full, has had nothing and has had plenty, but through all of the extremes in life he’s learned he can get through them all through the grace of Jesus Christ.
